What To Do To Increase Battery Life On Samsung Galaxy Nexus?

Wow, the quick battery life is taking me all the way back to my palm tungsten e days. One session with a multi-media function can take massive amounts of battery life. Is there some tricks i can do, or a third party battery? Because as it stands, i can only use it to make calls, if i want it to last more than a couple hours. I got a tablet and gaming portables too so its not a big deal, but man, the battery life is the same or worse than the ol' palm tungsten e.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus - Portable Battery Power

Anyone ever use something like this? Verizon samsung galaxy nexus rechargeable backup power portable battery charger (399759199890) | ebay

I have a duracell thing that works well, but ya gotta keep a cable with it to plug into your phone. I'd rather have something built in and carry one piece. More money than i want to spend on some off shoot brand, but curious if anyone's ever had one.

Is Using Extended Battery With Samsung Galaxy Nexus Good Enough ?

Most likely going to purchase a new phone tomorrow, either a gnex or a maxx. Love the gnex, but the battery life scares me. A guy i know claims to make it from 7am to 5pm on a charge, and to me that's just not good enough. Anyone here use the extended battery, and can give a non-root user an idea of the life in hours during an average day?

Possible Reason For Poor Battery Consumption - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

So, my battery has really been pretty crappy for a few weeks now (much worse than before). It all happened right after my phone had ghost dialed *22899 and updated my phone's prl. Now, my phone's battery is pretty decent, so long as i am connected to the google servers (my wi-fi & bars are blue). Here's the thing – they aren't blue as often as before. And sometimes, the wi-fi icon doesn't even appear, even though i know that i am connected to wi-fi (maybe my work connection is bad).

Anyway, the remedy for this is to turn off my screen and turn it right back on a second later. When i do that, the icons appear and they are blue. Should i manually call *22899 (since i had factory reset a week ago)? Would a new sim card fix this problem or is that not a factor? And, when the phone is not being used, juicedefender makes it so that the battery barely drains at all.

300% Battery Improvement Settings - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I have been struggling with battery life for some time now. I have tried every possible combination of settings on juice defender but ran into issues where my 3g wouldn't connect - forcing me to power cycle. Anyway, i disabled jd but did not change anything else and now get a very noticeable improvement in battery life.

Here are screen shots from 2 separate days on the same battery from a fully charged state. In both, i am in my office, connected to the same router. I used the phone almost identically both days - talk time, screen on time, etc.

In the first shot, you can see wifi disables and enables every 5 minutes - per jd. I also had it plugged in 2x for about 5 minutes each. I got 9. 75hrs.

In the second shot, wifi is on the entire time and jd is disabled. Not sure why it was "awake" for the long period of time in the middle of the day but it still didn't affect it. I got 28hrs.

The results are drastic - nearly a 300% improvement. I have read in other places that this phone does better with wifi enabled constantly but here is the proof. Go to forum to see the screen-shots and replies from other users.

How Much Battery Will Drain If I Leave Gps On ? Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I have a couple of locater apps, where is my droid and lookout. I set these up a long time ago, the thing is i usually have the gps off to save battery life. But if i leave it off i think there locators lack the ability to turn the gps back on. I have tasker and on my old phone the droid 2 i believe i had a task set up so that when where is my droid or lookout came on it would turn on the gps. But if i did that task didn't get move to my nexus. So how much of a drain will leaving my gps on have on my battery. Or is there a work around.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus - Battery Drained Suddenly After Installing Updates

I have been getting pretty great battery life with the extended battery. About 15 hrs use a day with moderate use. But, on thursday i got a notification from the market saying i had a few updates, so i selected install. Friday morning i unplug my phone at 0510, by 0527 i had drained the battery down to 78%. And all i did was unplug it and put it in my pocket and drive to work. Once i got off work i installed the battery and it was dead about 5 hrs later with not even hardly being used. I looked at the battery usage and it was all android os, cell stand by and screen usage.

I cant figure out whats going on with this thing? I think one of the updates i installed might have had an issue. But i cant remember which apps i updated. Does anyone know what else i can do find out what the issue is?

Mobile Network Signal Bar In Battery Stats - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Has anyone been able to figure out what the different colors in the mobile network signal bar in battery stats detail mean? (The one that shows the large chart of your battery draining over time and has mobile network signal, gps, screen, and awake usage bars under it). I see dark green, light yellow, dark yellow, and red on mine. Based on my usage the last 5 hours our so i'm guessing the following:

Red = no signal
Dark green = 4g
Light yellow = 3g
Dark yellow = no idea, maybe 1g?

Does anyone else have any additional colors, or idea what these mean? I'm just taking guesses here.

Samsung Epic 4g - Finally Satisfied With Battery Life!

Like a lot of folks, i have been scouring the forums looking for tips to improve battery life. I've finally got mine to a point that it is fantastic! Here is a list of things i have done that have helped. Please forgive me if a lot of this info has been posted before in various threads. I just wanted to combine it all for those new to the forum. The solution:

1. Use the airplane mode tip after any reboot. (Put the phone into airplane mode, then turn airplane mode off. )

2. Download switch pro (or a similar app, ) install the widget and include 'data connection' as one of your widget choices.

3. Turn off data connection unless you need it. (Keep in mind that you do not need a data connection for voice calls or text messages. )

4. Turn off wifi, gps, 4g, and bluetooth until you need them. Switch pro is also great for this as it gives you tons of options for things to switch on/off.

5. Use wifi instead of data connection (3g) whenever possible. Wifi uses far less battery than the radio searching for a 3g connection. Go to wi-fi settings > advanced > and set wifi sleep policy to 'never' and de-select 'network notification. ' you don't need the phone constantly scanning for open networks. When you need one, you will find it!

6. I put this one last because it sort of defeats the purpose of having a device with such a beautiful screen; nevertheless, it will save you lots of battery life. Turn the screen brightness down, if you can stomach it! Also, keep in mind that the amoled screen uses a lot of juice to produce whites. So, web browsing a lot will chew up battery quicker. Turn down brightness a touch to help offset this effect. These tips will improve your battery life. I realize a lot of people may hate on me for this and say things like "why buy a phone if you can't use it?" I say, i do use all of the features on my phone on a daily basis, i just do it more efficiently. And no it isn't complicated or a hassle to toggle things on/off. It's the easiest thing in the world and takes literally 5 seconds!

User Comment: Anker Astro 5600mah External Battery For Galaxy Nexus

I carried stock battery to replace extended battery when it gets low, and got sick of removing case, then back cover each time. And those external batteries were kinda too big to carry until i found this one. 5600mah is almost good enough to recharge gnex battery 3 times, plus it has all kind of recharging tips so i could use it to recharge my bluetooth headset, fiio, and speaker. So i only need to recharge anker at home.

Htc Hero Battery Life

I've had my hero for a few days now, moving from a touch diamond on wm6. 5 (cooked rom) first things first, this phone is amazing but i'm interested in how long the battery lasts? I keep all wifi, mobile internet, bluetooth etc off and use taskiller to kill everything except sense, taskiller and music when i turn the screen off.

The second charge finished 2 days ago at around 6pm and now it's been on for 40 hours, spending all of today since i got up wit 8% battery. This is with a fair amount of wifi-ing around the market, plenty of texts and calls etc.

My main question then is at what points does the battery indicator tend to lie? In the sense that when i first used it it went from 100% to 90% in a few hours but its had 8% all day.

Just so i can get a grasp for the battery life and don't end up phoneless when i need it. If you can give me your batterylife experiences that would be a winner.

G1 Battery Life Fix Suggestions

The battery life of a g1 with 2. 1 is absolutely terrible. Theres really no other words to describe how bad it is. Sure with a brand new, extended life battery it may be fine, but that will eventually change. My phones stats after 10 hours being off the charger(airplane mode for 7 hours while at school where there is no reception, so even less batter should be used by cell standby) and 21% battery remaining:

Phone idle: 51%
Cell standby: 31%
Wi-fi: 12%
Display: 5%
Voice calls: 4%

There are really only 2 problems with it:
Phone idle time

Cell standby

Phone idle time is the battery being used when nothing is happening. Its just in your pocket. My phone is set to drop to 128mhz when the screen is off. Im not sure if this also combines the usage from other apps that run in the background, but im sure most of it is the phones low level services that are running just to keep the phone on.

Im not familiar with the workings of an operating system but i bet that something can be done to lower that at least a good 10-20%. Cell standby is the phone trying to find service where there is none. It tries over and over to connect but it cannon find anything. This is usually the cause of battery problems in cell phones.

My proposed fix is to either modify the time between connection retries to about 4-5 times longer than what it is currently when the screen is off. This may have to be done in the low level os stuff, and like i said im not familiar with that stuff, but if possible, i could probably write an app to do it similar to the overclock widget(though i dont think i would make it a widget. )

Any other ideas for fixes to battery problems? Would be great if other programmers could get in on this as well as it is one of the biggest issues with the g1 now that stability of roms is getting to where it is.

Edit: also, airplane mode should not turn off wifi. I want to save battery by turning the cell radio off while i'm in my basement, but i still want wifi. The iphone's airplane mode doesn't effect wifi. Infact, airplanes are starting to get wifi on them, so it should be fixed anyway.

Motorola Droid - Mediaserver Used About 40% Of Battery Life?

In my baterry use indicator in settings, my phone says mediaserver used about 40% of my battery life. Another 50% was from the screen. I was playing slacker radio for a few hours and that's only about 3% of my batter use. I tried using taskiller, to see if this would slow down mediaserver, but it didn't seem to. What is mediaserver and why is it using so much of my battery? I unplugged around 6 am and it's 2:30 now and my battery is down to 15% so i shut the phone off. I haven't used the phone for much besides slacker radio, so i wouldn't think my battery should die so quickly.

Motorola Droid X - Battery Life Concerns

I have used the dx since it arrived. I am a techie and wouldn't consider myself any more picky than any other techie, but is the general consensus *really* that battery life on the dx is good, or very good, or great?! This is most definitely not my own reality. I can't go a full 24-hr day without putting it back on charge. I leave the screen as dim as feasible, which is mostly at user=25% or minimum. I have 6 email addy's polling every 30 minutes and i have data push disabled (neither of which is ideal but a sacrifice to gain add'l battery life). I have battery manager set to battery saver mode. I also leave bluetooth disabled always and only activate gps if using the navigation and/or g-maps. I am running only 2 screens with 4 widgets total.

I know most devices these days drain power in a somewhat similar fashion but my iphone 3g was not this bad. I find it quite inconvenient and a serious hassle to have a charger available everywhere: at work, in both vehicles, and at home b/c invariably, i will likely have to use two or more of those cables at least once each day. And this is without playing a single movie, audio file, or streaming anything. I don't particularly talk an awful lot either, but calls tend to be the most battery-consuming. The breakdown on this particular day happened to fall like this:

Voice calls:56%
Cell standby: 25%
Display:13%
Phone idle:8%

Those actuaries in the audience were quick to realize this is actually 102%. Go figure. So, any comments, suggestions on how i can improve this? I am considering giving the wife the dx and getting the fascinate but i fear this will not improve. This can't be as good as it gets, can it?

Htc Evo 4g - Better Battery Life With Launcherpro

I never thought i could live without sense but i finally installed launcherpro and i love it! Dont really see anything i miss much. The scrollable launcher at the bottom is great, as is landscape mode anywhere on the phone and the 3d app drawer. I have also noticed my battery life is even better than it was. My 1800mah battery usually drops about 10% an hour with heavy use and 5% an hour with only moderate use. Its been 4 hours since i installed lp and have used it pretty heavy. Calls, texts, web, live tv and the i have only lost 12% battery in that stretch.

Changes i made were going down to 3 homescreens and things like friend stream, bookmarks and calendar are widgets rather than taking up a whole home screen. That probably saves on the battery a bit i would imagine. Not to mention the phone seems alot faster opening everything.

Htc Evo 4g - How To Extend Battery Life

Ok so i have read and followed almost every threat religiously about how to extend the battery life on my htc evo. I still get the drop from 100% to 90% within minutes of taking it off the wall charger (stock charger). Some days it will work for hours and never drop past 85% and some days it will drop to 40% by the end of three hours. I have ordered the gorilla battery 3500 and hopefully this will help, but it will reduce my premium case to worthless. Any ideas what the heck is going on with this battery issue and why it hasn't been resolved ?
