Possible To Create Droid Database Without External Tools

I have been searching for this for the past few days and every tutorial i see needs for me to use an external package. Is there anything built into the android sdk that would allow me to create a database? I thought i saw something on it a long time ago, but i can't find anything to back that foggy memory up.

Delete Last Row In A Table With Sqlite Database Tools Of Droid

My question is quite straightforward. I have a table, with, lets say x rows, with each an id, but i don't know how many rows i have. Now i want to delete the last row of my table for some reason. Is there an easy way to do that in android? I have been trying to use the last_insert_rowid in my where clause. But no luck so far.
Any idea to do that with the sqlite database tools of android?

Droid Always Wanting To Create Database / What's Going On

I'm working on a small android database application (i'm an android newbie). I have an existing sqlite3 database created on a different platform. When i use it my sqliteopenhelper always calls oncreate (which of course fails). When i let android create the database all works just fine - oncreate is called for the first time, but not subsequently.

The android_metadata table is present with local=en_us.

What's going on?

Using Database - Create Database With Several Tables

Using sqlite on android? I've found this: http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/data/data-storage.html#db and it ok to start with, but then it wants me to jump into other source code then its difficult to follow.

I've tried others on the web, one from screaming penguin and that just kept causing errors with jvm.

I need to: create database, with several tables (auto id, declare type) update get

Motorola Droid - Not Recognized As An Internal External Command

I just rooted my droid using this guide, installed busybox then made a custom recovery. I know how to use the change directory properly cause i did it enough times doing those things, so i'm pretty sure it's not that.

http://androidforums.com/all-things-root-droid/45764-guide-s-everything-root-related.html

After that my command prompt stopped working for me when i wanted to start doing stuff. It gives me that error; "not recognized as an internal external command, operable program or batch file"
I'm not sure why it's not working for me, not a tech savy guy really, just know how to follow tutorials.
I'm thinking it may be my path variable needs to be fixed some how, but i don't know much else about it, so i haven't touched it.

Why Eclipse Up To Date With 2.0.1 But No Tools Appear In The Ui

I was completely set up with android 2. 0 and eclipse. Everything worked fine. Then i tried to upgrade to 2. 0. 1 and now eclipse wont show any of the android plug in stuff. There is nothing in the ide relating to android anymore. No avd, no android projects, nothing.

If i go to help -> install new software, select "android eclair - https://dl-ssl.google.com/android/eclipse/" for the "work with", and look under developer tools i get these:

Code:.

These are the mot current android 2. 0. 1 tools. It shows that they are already installed (clicking the "hide items that are already installed" box removes them). However, eclipse looks like i just installed it vanilla with no plugins at all.

Is there something else i need to do?  "Check for updates" says there is nothing to update. Should i blow away eclipse and reinstall it from scratch?  Doesnt that defeat the purpose of the automatic updater?

Deactivate Any Calls To Log Before Publishing - Tools

According to google, i must "deactivate any calls to log methods in the source code" before publishing my android app (section 4 of the publication checklist).

My open-source project is large and it is a pain to do it manually every time i release. Additionally, removing a log line is potentially tricky, for instance:

Code:.

If i comment the log line, then the condition applies to the next line, and chances are load() is not called. Are such situations rare enough that i can decide it should exist?

This is on the official checklist, so i guess many people do this on a regular basis.
So, is there a tool that removes all log lines? Preferably one that is not tricked by code like the above.

Way To Do Database Schema Migrations In Droid

Is there a standard way to do database schema migrations on android? For example, user installs newer version of my android app but the new version needs to make updates to the database schema (and wiping the user's database and starting over is not an option!). So i need to run some alter statements and/or copy tables the first time my new version runs.

Need Higher Level Database Layer For Droid

Access A Database In A Separate Thread In Droid

How do you access a sqlitedatabase database in a separate thread (ie: an asynctask) of an activity and make sure that you always leave it in a legal state?

If i understand correctly, the thread can be killed at any moment and the database might remain open, potentially giving an illegalstateexception (sqlitedatabase
Created and never closed) at a latter time.

How do you deal with this?

Application Losing Sharedpreferences And Sqlite Database On Droid

I've had several reports (and experienced it once myself) of users of my app experiencing loss of all application data - both sharedpreferences and the sqlite database. There's nothing in my code that could do this so there must be something going on at a lower level. I've only had reports from droid users so it's more than likely confined to that phone, although that doesn't mean it doesn't happen on other phones. Has anyone experienced this before? I've seen threads in here regarding loss of just sharedpreferences, but a database as well?

Edit Application Database In Droid Via Adb Shell - Eclipse

How can i edit an sqlite database after it has been created and stored on my phone together with the corresponding app? I want to add a new column to the database but i can't figure out how. Is it possible to do this via the adb shell or maybe eclipse? Or in code?

I tried to just update my db-adapter class, but then the app fails at compile time with the following exception:

Android. Database. Sqlite. Sqliteexception: no such columns

Simply removing and reinstalling the app won't work either.

App On Droid For Setting Up Own Database Preferably Password Protected

Is there an application on android for setting up your own database, preferably password protected?

I used to use ewallet on my iphone for storing all kinds of confidential information, such as login details, router wep keys, credit card details, and all that sort of stuff.

I miss ewallet. I gather that they are working on an android version, but i need something now.

Any suggestions?

I've had a look at oi safe, but it's restrictive in the available fields and there's not much customisation.

Good Examples To Organize Database Access Code In Droid Project

I have created a contentprovider for my main sqlite table, pretty much following notepad example from sdk (although i am not sure whether i will ever be exposing my data to other apps). However, i need to create lots of other, non-trivial queries on that and other tables and views. A good example would be queries to extract some statistics from the base data, averages, totals etc.

So what's the best place for this code in an android project? How it should be related and connected to the uri-based data access exposed by a provider? Any good examples out there?

How To Use External Jars In Project

I have created an android project and added an external jar (hessian-4. 0. 1. Jar) to my project. I then add the jar to the buildpath and check it of in order and export.

Order and export is ignored it seams, and all classes from the external jar is missing in runtime.

Is there a trick to properly include the needed classes from an external jar when building an android application using the eclipse plug-in. I do not want to use ant of maven.

Google Maps External Library

A not so small part of the android devices are not including the google maps external library. My first question is: how can a vendor/manufacturer include it on his devices, is there a process of obtaining a license for the use of the library or there are some conditions to apply for such a license?

My second one: is there a nicer way to address this issue other than have 2 builds/apks, one that uses the library, with added in the manifest, and the other one, without the use of the library?
