Motorola Droid X - Download Ringtones (like Music) Saves In Sd Card / Why Is So

This is very frustrating. Why is it that when i download ringtones (like music ringtones) it saves in the sd card? I haven't put my music in my phone yet but when i click on the music player it shows the ring tones i've downloaded. This would suck if im playing music and out of no where i have to listen to parts of a song. What can i do about this? New to android.

Motorola Droid - Gmail Storage On Phone / Delete Messages While Still Keeping Them In Cloud

Does anyone know how much memory gmail messages are taking up on the droid. I have a lot (and i mean thousands) of gmail messages and i don't want a lot of them residing on my droid. So i'm hoping there is some limit as to the number that get stored on the droid, or there is a way to delete the messages on the droid while still keeping them in the cloud.

Sd Card Shows 4gb Instead Of 16gb Storage - Lg Esteem

Does anyone know what is going on here? I installed a 16gb sdcard into my lg esteem and when i look at settings app it shows a 16gb sdcard and a 4gb sim card. However, when other applications show they sdcard the report that there is only 4gb available. For example: the astro file manager appears to have two folders. One called "sdcard", which is 4gb in size and "_externalsd" (hidden), which is 16gb in size. Does anyone know what is going on here? When programs are saved to sdcard are they going to the 4gb sim card or 16gb sdcard or is the 16gb sdcard only showing 4gb of available storage?

Motorola Droid - Save Sent Emails From Phone On Host Server?

I know i should know this but i'm swamped at work and losing emails because of this, and i'm drawing a blank. I thought when i set up my email, it was set to store a copy of sent messages on the server, but none of the emails i sent from the droid are on the host email server. I see discussions about too many copies on the yahoo server, so obviously it can copy to the server and i just didn't do it right. Well, after multiple times of replying to the same message twice because i can't remember if i did or not and was it from droid or pc, i need to correct this.

Could one of you experts provide a link to a how-to or short instructions? If i need to delete and re-add the account i guess i could, but i'm hoping not.

Ringtones Saved From Audio Files In Sd Card Disappear After Reboot

I'm having a problem creating ringtones from files saved to the sd card. I have succeeded in getting the information to be written to the mediastore database, and the files do show up in settings -> sound & display -> phone ringtone. However, as soon as i reboot the phone, the files disappear from the list of ringtones.

The only clue i have is that the database in /data/data/ Providers. Media/databases/external-. Db is getting its rows deleted on startup. The files themselves are not changing. Even stranger is that, if i simply copy the file from the sd card to the files/ directory of the internal storage directory for my app, and then save that file as the ringtone, it works!  However, it doesn't really seem feasible to me to force the user to keep two copies of the audio file.

I do have a . Nomedia file in the audio files directory (to avoid the files showing up in the music app), but i have tested this with and without the . Nomedia file and the same problem occurs.

Below is my code for creating the ringtone/notification. The users of my app would be really grateful if i figured this out.

Motorola Droid - Load Music Onto Phone / Trick To Know Data On Sd Card

I put music from media center onto the mini sd card that came with droid and put it back in the phone and nothing came up in my music app. Is there a different way i should be putting music on the sd card? I thought droid would automatically recognize the music but it is not. I open the music app and the screen comes up black blank. Is there a trick to this phone knowing the data on the sd card?

Motorola Droid - Cannot Download Ringtones / What To Do

I have a motorola droid. Recently it stopped ringing. I took it to verizon and they replaced it with a refurbished phone. All seems okay, except i cannot download ringtones.

In my first phone i got some terrific options from manilo ringtones which i found in the droid marketplace on the phone. However, when i try to reach that source on my new droid, i cannot. The ringtone options on my droid are really limited. I tried some other ringtone apps, too, but when i downloded them and tried to install i got a note about a problem with or the absence of an sd  card. What is the problem and what do i do?

I created a folder on the desktop ( in the music process) my question is can that folder be moved once it is created? It may be unusual but i like the homescreen being empty of apps. I like only seeing the photo. (Didn't have that option with the iphone!. I don't mind bringing the menu up everytime and getting my apps etc in there. When i try to drag and drop the music folder into my menu it actually deletes it. Am i doing something wrong? I don't want to delete the folder just want it hidden. Motorola Droid X - Usb Debugging - Sd Card

A couple days ago i enabled "usb debugging" because i needed to use pdanet to connect my laptop to the web. I left debugging on when i was done, because i didn't think that it was effecting anything.

Later while i was connected to my desktop computer (charging) and loading new apps, a couple apps complained that they couldn't access the sd card.

I quickly tested access to the sd card with the camera and astro file manager, which could see the sd card.

When i disconnected from the computer i saw "preparing sd card" which really scared me. However, the sd card was not reformatted as i had feared.

Can someone please explain the relationships between: usb debugging, being connected to a computer via usb (mounted as a disk on the computer) and access to the sd card?

Also is there a diagram anywhere that shows android's layout of the disk. For example - where is the gallery where the camera's photos are located?
